Recipes with the ingredients you have, not the ones you wish you had

Most “recipes with ingredients I have” searches return dishes that need one thing you own and nine you don’t. This finder scores every dinner by the share of its ingredients already on your shelf and puts the near-complete ones first, with the gap priced so you can see whether it’s a $2 trip or a different dinner.

Questions people ask

How does “what can I make with these ingredients” work?

Tick the ingredients you have. Every dinner in the catalogue is scored by how many of its ingredients you already own; the best matches come first with the missing items listed and roughly priced, so you can decide whether to cook tonight or add two things to the list.

Do I need to enter exact amounts?

No. It matches on ingredients, not quantities. Staples like oil, salt, garlic and onion are assumed unless you untick them.

Can I photograph my fridge instead of ticking boxes?

That is Fridge Chef in the Mittsy app: take a photo of the fridge or pantry, confirm the ingredients it found, and get recipes that use them. The web version is the tick-box cousin.

Is this a recipe generator?

It searches a catalogue of 150+ tested dinners rather than inventing a recipe, so every result is a real dish with steps, servings and nutrition. The app’s “Plan my week” can also write new recipes for your household.

Does it help reduce food waste?

That is the point. Sorting by “uses most of what you have” surfaces the dinners that clear the fridge before things turn, which is where most household food waste comes from.

Or just photograph the fridge.

Fridge Chef in the Mittsy app recognises what’s on the shelves, lets you fix the list, and hands you recipes that use it up. Free on iOS and Android.
